Postscript Review: SMS Pricing, Features and Who It's For

Postscript is a good choice for Shopify brands that want SMS as a main sales channel: it is built around texting, has unlimited segments on every plan and bills mostly per message, with no prepaid credits that expire. It is a poor fit for small stores that text rarely, since Starter carries a $49 monthly minimum, and for stores that want email and SMS in one tool today, because Postscript's email is still rolling out in phases.

Every plan, and what it really costs

From Postscript's pricing page:

Carrier fees are passed through at cost on a separate line. The pricing page lists average US carrier fees of $0.0033 per SMS and $0.00799 per MMS for the US and Canada.

Trial and starting credit. Postscript says all plans start with a free 30-day trial, and the Shopify listing adds a $100 credit for the first 30 days on each plan.

No prepaid credits. Postscript says you pay after sending, with no prepaid balances, expiring credits, overages, auto-upgrades or profile fees. That is different from tools that sell SMS credit packs.

Cost at two store sizes

These use only published rates for US SMS. Postscript's pricing page does not say whether carrier fees count toward Starter's $49 minimum, so we show them separately.

Small store, 4,000 texts a month on Starter: 4,000 x $0.009 = $36 of messages, which is below the $49 minimum, so you pay $49. Carrier fees at the average US rate add about $13.20. Expect roughly $62/month.

Growing store, 30,000 texts a month:

• Starter: 30,000 x $0.009 = $270, plus about $99 in carrier fees = about $369/month.
• Growth: $100 + (30,000 x $0.008 = $240) + $99 = about $439/month.

Growth's lower rate saves $0.001 per SMS, so the $100 platform fee only pays for itself at 100,000 texts a month. Likewise, Professional's extra $400 over Growth breaks even at 400,000 texts a month. Pick Growth or Professional for the features (unlimited keywords, support, API access), not to save on messages, unless you send at that scale. MMS changes the math: at $0.045 vs. $0.03, Growth's MMS saving is $0.015 per message, so a store sending mostly picture messages reaches break-even far sooner (about 6,700 MMS a month).

Strengths

Built for SMS first. Everything on the pricing page, from flows to keywords to the toll-free number, is aimed at texting. If SMS is a core channel, that focus shows in the feature list: two-way messaging, win-back campaigns, cart recovery and one-time passwords are all listed.

Unlimited segments on every plan. Starter includes campaigns, automations and unlimited segments built on Shopify data.

Pay-as-you-send billing. No expiring credits and no automatic upgrades, so a quiet month costs less.

Highly rated. 4.7 stars from 1,205 reviews as listed on the Shopify App Store in November 2026, with 95% of ratings at five stars and 3% at one star.

Integrations. The listing names Shopify checkout and customer account extensions, KlaviyoKlaviyoEmail and SMSKlaviyo is an email and SMS marketing platform that pulls in store data from Shopify and 350+ other apps to build segments, automated flows and campaigns. Limits and watch-outs

The $49 minimum. There is no free plan. Even if you send only a few hundred texts, Starter costs at least $49 a month after the trial and credit.

Carrier fees on top. Every message adds a carrier fee. On the per-SMS rate alone, the average US carrier fee ($0.0033) adds more than a third to Starter's $0.009 SMS rate.

Starter support is self-serve. Live chat and email support start at Growth; Starter lists help center access.

Email is not fully here yet. The App Store listing says email is "rolling out to brands in phases, so availability may vary," and the pricing page shows no email price, only a waitlist. If you need email today, you will run a second tool.

International pricing is unclear. The pricing page FAQ lists questions about contracts and international sending costs without visible answers, so ask sales if you text outside the US and Canada.

Who should use Postscript

• Shopify brands that already get meaningful revenue from texts, or plan to, and send thousands of messages a month.
• Stores that want SMS-specific tools: keywords, Onsite Opt-in, two-way messaging and an AI agent that texts customers.
