For most Shopify stores that want texting as a real sales channel, Postscript is the best pick: it is built for Shopify, publishes its per-message prices, and starts with a $49 monthly minimum. If you also want email in the same tool, Klaviyo is the better buy, and Attentive is for larger brands that are fine talking to sales.

Shopify store adding SMS for the first time: Postscript Starter. There is no platform fee, just a $49 monthly minimum spend and per-message rates, and the Shopify listing adds a $100 credit for your first 30 days. You get campaigns, automations, unlimited segments and a dedicated toll-free number from day one.

Store already using Klaviyo for email: add Klaviyo's SMS plan. At $15/month for up to 1,250 credits with carrier fees included, it is the cheapest published way in, and your SMS and email share the same segments and flows.

Store already on Omnisend Pro: use Omnisend's SMS add-on before buying a second tool. You pay only per message, from $0.009 per US SMS.

Postscript

Postscript is an SMS marketing platform made for Shopify, and it is the only app here that publishes platform fees and per-message rates for all of its self-serve plans.

Pricing (from Postscript's pricing page):

Starter: $0/month platform fee, $49 monthly minimum spend. $0.009 per SMS, $0.045 per MMS, plus carrier fees. Two opt-in keywords.
Growth: $100/month. $0.008 per SMS, $0.03 per MMS, plus carrier fees. Unlimited opt-in keywords, live chat and email support.
Professional: $500/month. $0.007 per SMS, $0.024 per MMS, plus carrier fees. Enhanced analytics, priority support, API access, and removes "Powered by Postscript" from opt-in.
Enterprise: contact sales. Adds a dedicated customer success manager, custom product recommendations, Data Warehouse Push and an RCS option.
Postscript AI plan: $699/month, with per-message rates of $0.003 to $0.30 depending on product and message type. It bundles Brand Center, Infinity Testing and Shopper, Postscript's AI tool that answers shopper questions and recommends products by text.

Postscript passes carrier fees through at cost on their own line. Its listed US averages are $0.0033 per SMS and $0.00799 per MMS. All plans start with a free 30-day trial.

Every plan includes a flow builder with templates for cart and browse abandonment, welcome and shipping texts, onsite opt-in tools, advanced segmentation, analytics, response management and custom attribution windows.

Watch out: Postscript's email product is rolling out to brands in phases, and its email pricing page is a waitlist, so plan on a separate email tool for now. MMS costs five times as much as SMS on Starter.

Klaviyo

Klaviyo is best when you want SMS and email to run off the same customer data. Its Shopify App Store listing shows a separate SMS plan at $15/month for up to 1,250 SMS/MMS credits, with carrier fees included.

The SMS plan includes: multi-channel segmentation and flows, opt-in and list growth tools, SMS AI for campaign creation, automated two-way conversations, transactional SMS, branded SMS links, multi-channel A/B testing and customizable multi-channel attribution.

The free plan also includes $5 of mobile messages a month, so you can test texting before paying.

Attentive

Attentive is an SMS and email platform for larger ecommerce brands. It publishes no prices: its Shopify listing says "Free to install," with a minimum 30-day free trial, then month-to-month or long-term agreements.

What it offers (from its Shopify listing and our fact sheet): two-tap signup units with a no-code builder, segments built from identity data across SMS, email, push and RCS, AI send time and personalization, A/B testing, abandoned cart, browse abandonment and back-in-stock campaigns, and in-house TCPA compliance experts with compliant templates.

Watch out: you can't price it without a sales call, and the post-trial agreement may be long-term. That is a poor fit for a store testing whether SMS works at all.

Omnisend

Omnisend includes SMS, but only as a paid add-on on its Pro plan for subscriptions started on or after May 4, 2026. Pro starts at $59/month for up to 2,500 contacts with unlimited emails.

SMS rates (US): $0.009 per SMS at $10–$49.99 of monthly spend, $0.0085 at $50–$999.99, $0.008 at $1,000–$9,999.99, and $0.007 at $10,000 or more. Rates differ by recipient country, and credits expire after 60 days.

Watch out: it only makes sense as an SMS tool if you also want Omnisend for email. If you don't need Pro's email features, you are paying $59/month just for access.

What it costs at two volumes

Published prices only. Carrier fees are estimated with Postscript's listed US averages. Where a vendor doesn't publish a number, we say so.

5,000 SMS a month (small list, a few texts per subscriber):

Postscript Starter: 5,000 × $0.009 = $45 in message fees, which is below the $49 minimum, so you pay at least $49. Carrier fees average about $16.50 on 5,000 US SMS. Postscript's page doesn't say whether carrier fees count toward the minimum.
Postscript Growth: $100 + $40 in messages = $140, plus carrier fees.
Omnisend: 5,000 × $0.009 = $45 in SMS, on top of Pro from $59. About $104/month, with unlimited email included.
Klaviyo: above the $15 plan's 1,250 credits; the higher tier's price wasn't published in a form we could confirm.
Attentive: quote only.

20,000 SMS a month:

Postscript Starter: 20,000 × $0.009 = $180, plus about $66 in carrier fees.
Postscript Growth: $100 + $160 = $260, plus the same carrier fees.
Omnisend: $170 in SMS at the $0.0085 rate, plus Pro from $59.

One useful number: Growth saves $0.001 per SMS over Starter but costs $100 more, so it only becomes cheaper at 100,000 SMS a month. Professional saves another $0.001 for $400 more, which breaks even at 400,000 SMS a month. Upgrade Postscript for the features, like unlimited keywords, live chat support or API access, not for the per-message savings.

Which one should you choose?

Choose Postscript if SMS is a main channel, you're on Shopify, and you want to know your costs before you sign anything.
Choose Klaviyo if you want SMS and email on one customer profile, or you already use Klaviyo for email.
Choose Attentive if you are a large brand that wants compliance help and a managed program, and you're comfortable with a contract.
Choose Omnisend if you are already on Omnisend Pro and send modest SMS volume.
