Wix Ecommerce Review (2026): Plans, Fees and Who It Fits

Wix suits website-first small businesses that want to build free and sell from Core ($29/mo yearly). Store-first brands will do better on Shopify.

What Wix eCommerce does

Wix eCommerce is the store side of the Wix website builder. On its features page, Wix lists:

  • Storefront: 500+ templates, a mobile editor, and 90+ languages through Wix Multilingual.
  • Products: up to 50,000 products, variants with their own price, weight and stock, digital downloads, subscription boxes, product reviews, and CSV import and export.
  • Checkout: Wix Payments plus PayPal, Stripe and Square among its payment gateways, express checkout, buy now pay later, delivery or store pickup, and a currency converter for shoppers.
  • Shipping and tax: free shipping rules, custom rates by region, category, weight or price, discounted USPS rates, and automated sales tax using Avalara rates.
  • Sales channels: Facebook, Instagram, Google Shopping, eBay and more from one dashboard, with multichannel inventory sync.
  • Sourcing: dropshipping through Modalyst and AliExpress, print-on-demand through Printful and Printify, and fulfillment partners including ShipBob and ShipStation.
  • Marketing: abandoned cart emails, email campaigns, promo codes, Facebook and Instagram ads, SEO tools and analytics.
  • Apps: the Wix App Market for add-ons.

The features page does not say which of these need which plan, so check before you buy.

Every plan, explained

From Wix's plans page, its premium plans article (updated October 2026) and its help center "Premium plan overview":

Free: $0. Build and design your site with no credit card required. Cannot accept payments.

Light: $17/month. Removes Wix branding and lets you connect a custom domain, with a free domain voucher for a year on yearly plans. Wix describes it as best for portfolios, blogs and informational sites. It is not listed as able to accept payments.

Core: $29/month. Wix calls it "best for small businesses and new online stores." Adds "Accept payments" and "Sell products online," with "basic" eCommerce, 50 GB storage, site analytics, customer accounts, site chat and booking.

Business: $39/month. "Standard" eCommerce. Adds Point of Sale and automated sales tax (limited to 100 transactions a month), 100 GB storage and 10 collaborators.

Business Elite: $159/month. "Advanced eCommerce tools," priority customer care, unlimited storage and 15 collaborators. Automated sales tax is still listed at 100 transactions a month.

Billing. Wix's plans page says "Displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase" and that prices and currency vary by location. It mentions other subscription periods but does not show their prices. When we read it in November 2026, it showed prices with local tax included (Core at $29.77), so your number will vary. Wix offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first upgrade to a premium plan.

What it costs at two store sizes

Yearly billing, US online card payments through Wix Payments at 2.9% + $0.30, no Amex, no apps.

Small shop: $1,500 a month, 30 orders of $50. Core: $29 + (2.9% × $1,500 = $43.50) + (30 × $0.30 = $9) = $81.50 a month. Paid upfront, the plan alone is $348 for the year.

Busier shop: $10,000 a month, 200 orders of $50. Business: $39 + $290 + $60 = $389 a month.

Wix lists the same US card rate regardless of plan, so upgrading does not lower processing costs the way it does on Shopify or Squarespace. If a meaningful share of your customers pay with American Express, your costs rise: 3.7% + $0.30 on those orders.

Strengths

Build for free before you pay. The Free plan lets you design the whole site; you upgrade only when you are ready to sell.

One editor for the site and store. Templates, pages, blog, bookings and products live in the same place.

Wide range of sourcing and channels. Dropshipping, print-on-demand, eBay and Google Shopping are listed on Wix's own features page.

No platform fee on sales listed. Wix's Wix Payments service fee page lists processing rates but no separate commission on sales.

Flat card rate. One US online rate for standard cards across plans keeps cost estimates simple.

Limits and watch-outs

No selling on Free or Light. You need Core or above to accept payments.

POS starts on Business. Wix's premium plan overview lists POS on Business and Business Elite, not Core.

Yearly prices only on the plans page. Wix does not show month-to-month prices there, and its displayed price depends on your location and tax.

Automated sales tax is capped. Wix's help center lists automated sales tax at 100 transactions a month on Business and Business Elite. A busy store will pass that.

Plan differences are vague. "Basic," "standard" and "advanced" eCommerce are not spelled out feature by feature on the pages we read.

Amex costs more. 3.7% + $0.30 in the US, versus 3.2% + $0.30 on Squarespace.

Chargebacks. Wix lists a $15 chargeback fee in the US ($20 for PayPal), and the original processing fee is not returned on refunds.

Who should use it

  • Service businesses, local shops, restaurants and studios that need a full website first.
  • Owners who want to build and test a site for free before paying.
  • Small catalogs that sell across Facebook, Instagram, Google Shopping or eBay.

Verdict

Wix eCommerce does what a website-first business needs: a flexible editor, a free plan to build on, and selling tools that cover dropshipping, subscriptions and social channels. Its weak spots are the lack of month-to-month pricing on the plans page, POS only from Business, and a sales tax cap that a growing store will hit. Choose Core if you are a small business adding a shop; choose a store-first platform if selling is the main event.

How we put this together

We did not test Wix hands-on. Plan prices and features come from Wix's plans page, its "Wix Premium Plans" article, its help center "Premium plan overview" and "Wix Payments: Service Fees," and its eCommerce features page, all read in November 2026, plus our fact sheet checked November 3, 2026. Wix shows prices by location, so your price may differ. Shopify and Squarespace facts come from their own pricing pages.
