The core difference: how you pay

Both apps cover the same job: send review requests, collect photo and video reviews, and show them on your store and in Google. The biggest gap between them is the pricing model.

Judge.me has two plans and neither is tied to orders. Forever Free is $0. Awesome is $15/month, billed in USD.

Loox has three plans, and the middle one scales with volume. Free covers "up to 500 orders" (the listing doesn't say whether that is monthly or in total). Convert is $49.99/month with 300 orders included, plus $50 per additional 300 orders. Unlimited is $299.99/month with no order limit and priority support.

Here is what each costs per month, using listed prices and assuming Loox's order count is monthly:

Monthly orders Judge.me (with Awesome) Loox
300 $15 $49.99 (Convert)
600 $15 $99.99 (Convert)
1,000 $15 $199.99 (Convert)
2,000 $15 $299.99 (Unlimited is cheaper than Convert's $349.99)

Over a year at 1,000 orders a month, that is $180 for Judge.me Awesome against $2,399.88 for Loox Convert. The difference has to come from Loox driving more sales through its visual widgets and referrals for the switch in price to make sense.

Collecting reviews

Judge.me. The free plan includes unlimited review requests. Awesome adds "Advanced collection (auto-reminder, etc)," so automatic reminders cost $15. A reviews importer and AliExpress sync are on the free plan, and Judge.me lists imports from Loox, Yotpo, Amazon, Etsy and others.

Loox. The free plan includes review request emails and reminders, plus discounts for customers who leave photo reviews. Loox's listing also advertises migration and import from other apps.

Edge: Loox gives you reminders for free; Judge.me gives you video and unlimited reviews for free but charges $15 for reminders.

Photo and video reviews

This is Loox's home ground. Its listing is built around visual reviews, and the free plan offers photo-review discounts and lets you turn reviews into social posts and stories. Video reviews start on Convert.

Judge.me lists "Unlimited visual reviews (photos/videos)" on Forever Free, so video costs nothing there.

Edge: Judge.me on price. Loox on the extras built around visual content, such as social posts and review stories.

Display and widgets

Judge.me: the free plan has a review widget, star rating badge, carousels (video, cards, testimonials), trust badges and medals. Awesome raises this to 16 widgets, including snippets, Q&A and a reviews page, with full CSS and email design control.

Loox: the free plan lists 17+ widgets, including snippets and carousels.

Edge: close. Loox gives more widgets on its free plan; Judge.me's Q&A widget and CSS control need Awesome.

Google, Meta and TikTok

Both add Google rich snippets on the free plan. Judge.me's free plan also syncs with the Shop App, Etsy and Amazon, and Awesome adds Google Shopping plus Meta and TikTok Shop sync. Loox's free plan includes Shop app syndication, and Convert adds Google, Meta and TikTok syndication.

Edge: Judge.me, because the same channels cost $15 instead of $49.99 and up.

Referrals and AI

Loox's Convert plan includes post-purchase and on-site referrals and a longer AI list: smart sorting, review highlights, summaries, review stories, translations and replies. Judge.me's Awesome lists "Coupons & Referrals" and AI replies, summaries and translations.

Edge: Loox if referrals are a main growth channel and you want them in your review app. If you already run a loyalty app with referrals, this matters less.

Integrations and language

Judge.me's Awesome plan lists 130+ integrations, including Klaviyo and Gorgias, and its "works with" list includes AfterShip, LoyaltyLion, PageFly and PushOwl. Loox's listing names Klaviyo, LoyaltyLion, Omnisend, Meta Shops, Google Shopping and the Shop App, plus API access and webhooks on Convert.

On language, Loox's listing shows English as its only language, though a screenshot caption mentions translating widgets and emails into 38 languages. Judge.me's AI translations are on Awesome.

A worked example: a 400-order store

Say you run a clothing store doing about 400 orders a month and want automatic reminders, video reviews and Google Shopping stars.

  • Judge.meJudge.meReviewsJudge.me is a product review app that collects and displays product and store reviews, including photo and video reviews. Free plan, paid from $15/mo, 15-day trial.Click for Scout's full analysis: all three are on Awesome, so you pay $15/month, or $180 a year.
  • LooxLooxReviewsLoox is a Shopify review app focused on photo and video reviews, with review request emails, display widgets and a built-in referral program. Free plan, paid from $49.99/mo, 14-day trial.Click for Scout's full analysis: reminders are on the free plan, but video reviews and Google syndication need Convert. At 400 orders that is $49.99 plus one extra 300-order block, or $99.99/month ($1,199.88 a year).

If the same store grows to 1,000 orders, Judge.me stays at $15 and Loox Convert rises to $199.99. The gap is about features you may or may not use: Loox adds review stories, more AI tools and post-purchase referrals on the same plan.

Trials and support

Judge.me offers a 15-day free trial on Awesome. Loox offers a 14-day free trial on both Convert and Unlimited. Loox's free plan lists 24/7 chat and email support, and Unlimited adds priority support. Both listings say charges are billed in USD, and Loox notes that recurring and usage-based charges are billed every 30 days.

Who should choose Loox anyway

  • Fashion, beauty and other brands where customer photos and videos sell the product.
  • Stores that want referrals, social content and reviews in one app rather than three.
  • Stores under Loox's 500-order free cap that want its free reminders and photo discounts.
  • High-volume stores where $299.99/month for Unlimited is a small part of the budget.

Who should skip Loox

  • Stores on a tight budget or thin margins.
  • Stores with growing order volume and no plan to use referrals.
  • Anyone who wants video reviews without paying.
