For most Shopify stores, CWILL Order Tracking (formerly ParcelPanel) is the best-value order tracking app: 200 orders a month for $11, a free plan, and a dropshipping mode. AfterShip is the stronger pick if you want tracking on your own domain plus an API, Route adds shopper-funded package protection with no monthly fee, and Loop Returns is the returns tool for brands with steady return volume.

These four do different jobs. Tracking apps cut "where is my order" emails, Route covers lost and damaged packages, and Loop handles what happens when an order comes back. Many stores end up using one tracking app plus one returns or protection tool.

Our pick by store type

Small store or dropshipper: CWILL Order Tracking. The free plan covers 20 orders a month, and Essential at $11 covers 200, double the quota of AfterShip's $11 plan. It also has a dropshipping mode for supplier shipments.

Established brand that wants a polished tracking experience: AfterShip Premium puts the tracking page on your own domain and adds AI delivery estimates, analytics, an API and webhooks.

Store worried about lost or stolen packages: Route. Shoppers pay for the protection at checkout, and Route handles claims.

Brand with real return volume: Loop Returns. It is built to turn refunds into exchanges and store credit, but it starts at $340 a month.

CWILL Order Tracking (formerly ParcelPanel)

CWILL Order Tracking is the same app many store owners know as ParcelPanel. It was renamed ParcelWILL and is now listed as CWILL Order Tracking.

Pricing (from its Shopify App Store listing):

Free: 20 orders/month
Essential: $11/month ($108/year), 200 orders/month
Professional: $59/month ($564/year), 2,000 orders/month
Enterprise: $479/month ($4,548/year), 25,000 orders/month

Paid plans charge $0.05 per order over quota and include a 7-day free trial.

What you get: the free plan covers 1,600+ carriers, real-time tracking, a branded and localized tracking page, a shipment dashboard and dropshipping mode. Essential adds shipping notifications, custom shipment statuses, post-purchase delivery estimates, AI product recommendations and discount upsells on the tracking page, shipping protection and advanced analytics. Professional adds auto-translated tracking details, CSV and PDF export, pre-purchase delivery estimates, integrations such as Klaviyo and PayPal, an API and webhooks, and removes CWILL branding.

Watch out: shipping notifications start on Essential, not the free plan, and CWILL branding stays until Professional.

AfterShip Order Tracking

AfterShip is the better-known tracking app and the stronger choice for brands that want a tracking page on their own domain.

Pricing (from its Shopify App Store listing):

Premium: $70/month ($708/year), 500 shipments/month, $0.12 per extra shipment

Essentials and Premium list $1 for the first month and a 7-day free trial, and every plan includes a first import of up to 500 shipments.

What you get: the free plan covers 1,100+ carriers, a tracking dashboard, a branded tracking page and carrier delivery estimates. Essentials adds your logo on the tracking page, automatic carrier detection, and email and SMS notifications. Premium adds a tracking page on your own domain, AI-powered delivery estimates and product recommendations, a full analytics suite, and an API and webhooks.

Watch out: included volumes are low. A store shipping 1,500 orders a month on Premium pays for 1,000 extra shipments at $0.12 each. AfterShip counts shipments and CWILL counts orders, so an order split into two packages may count differently in each app.

Route

Route is package protection first, with tracking, returns and cash-back rewards built around it.

Pricing (from its pricing page): the Standard plan is $0 a month. Shoppers opt in to package protection at checkout and pay for it, and Route says there are no monthly or hidden fees for the merchant. Custom plans are quoted and can mix flat fees, volume-based fees and shopper-funded pricing, with API and custom integrations.

What you get: opt-in or opt-out package protection, claims handling for lost, stolen or damaged orders, a branded tracking page with email and SMS notifications, a returns and exchanges portal with store credit and gift cards, and cash-back rewards toward the shopper's next purchase.

Watch out: Route's help center says protection premiums are set per store from factors such as product category, season and claims history, and can be recalibrated over time. Route collects the premiums your shoppers paid by debiting you through Stripe, usually weekly. It also has the lowest App Store rating of the four.

Loop Returns

Loop Returns is the returns tool in this group, built for brands that want to keep revenue when an order comes back.

Pricing (from its pricing page):

Checkout+: listed as free software plus return shipping, paid for by an optional shopper fee at checkout. Loop says not every merchant qualifies and eligibility depends on order and return volume. Its Shopify listing gives 5,000+ annual orders as the threshold.
Returns: from $340/month, up to 1,000 returns. Includes Shop Now, Instant Exchange, bonus credit and fraud prevention.
Loop Core Tracking: price not listed; demo required. Loop offers 10% off when bundled.

Loop does not offer a free trial.

What you get: a self-service return portal with exchanges, store credit, gift cards and refunds, Instant Exchange and Shop Now flows that steer refunds toward new orders, automated approvals and return rules, blocklists and fraud prevention. It connects to Shopify POS, Shopify Flow, Klaviyo, Gorgias, NetSuite and ShipHero.

Watch out: a store doing a few hundred orders a month is unlikely to justify $340 a month or meet the Checkout+ threshold. Smaller stores can use Route's or CWILL's lighter features in the meantime.

At both sizes CWILL is the cheapest tracking option. You pay AfterShip's premium for its custom-domain page, analytics and API.

Which one should you choose?

Choose CWILL Order Tracking if you want the most tracked orders for the money, run a dropshipping store, or want upsells on the tracking page.
Choose AfterShip if you want tracking on your own domain, AI delivery estimates and an API, and do not mind per-shipment overages.
Choose Route if lost and stolen packages are costing you money and you would rather shoppers fund the protection.
Choose Loop Returns if you have steady return volume and want to turn refunds into exchanges and store credit.

Common questions

Is ParcelPanel the same as CWILL Order Tracking? Yes. Its Shopify listing names it CWILL Order Tracking, formerly ParcelPanel and ParcelWILL, and parcelpanel.com's pricing page now redirects to cwill.com.

What is the cheapest order tracking app for Shopify? Among these, CWILL Order Tracking gives the most volume per dollar: 20 orders a month free, then 200 orders for $11 a month. AfterShip's free plan includes more (50 shipments), but its $11 plan covers only 100.

Does Route cost the merchant anything? On the Standard plan Route lists $0 a month, because shoppers pay for the protection they choose at checkout. Custom plans can include flat or volume-based fees paid by the merchant.

Is Loop Returns free? Only through Checkout+, which is paid for by a shopper fee at checkout and is limited to eligible brands; its Shopify listing says 5,000+ annual orders. Otherwise the Returns plan starts at $340 a month for up to 1,000 returns.
