Our pick by store type

Small catalog, one location, steady sales: Start with Shopify's built-in inventory reports and purchase orders, plus a simple reorder spreadsheet (explained below). Add an app when the spreadsheet starts taking hours each week.

Growing Shopify brand (dozens to hundreds of SKUs, more than one location, or bundles): PredikoPredikoInventoryPrediko is an inventory planning app for Shopify brands that forecasts demand, recommends what to reorder and manages purchase orders. Paid from $49/mo, 14-day trial.Click for Scout's full analysis. It is the lowest published price for a dedicated forecasting app, and its plans include unlimited users, SKUs and purchase orders.

Prediko

PredikoPredikoInventoryPrediko is an inventory planning app for Shopify brands that forecasts demand, recommends what to reorder and manages purchase orders. Paid from $49/mo, 14-day trial.Click for Scout's full analysis is an inventory planning app built for Shopify brands.

Pricing (from its pricing page): price depends on your GMV over the last 12 months. The lowest tier, under $100,000 in annual revenue, is $49 a month. Prediko lists tiers up to $50 million and above, but does not publish prices for them. Annual billing gives two months free, and you can also pay quarterly. There is a 14-day free trial. A Raw Materials Forecasting and Bills of Materials add-on costs $20 (the billing period is not stated). Billing goes through Shopify.

What you get:

  • AI demand forecasting and a supply planner with buying recommendations
  • Unlimited purchase orders, users, SKUs and inventory alerts
  • Multiple stores and locations, with transfers and bundles
  • Stock takes and barcode printing
  • Customizable reports and dashboards
  • An AI inventory assistant called Pia, and an MCP connection
  • Raw materials forecasting and bills of materials as a paid add-on

Its pricing page also lists a dedicated customer success manager, personalized onboarding, a private Slack channel, full API access and 150+ integrations, without tying them to a specific tier.

Watch out: no free plan, and above $100,000 a year you will not know your price until you use the selector on its site. Because price follows your trailing revenue, it rises as you grow even if your inventory needs do not change much.

Inventory Planner by Sage

Inventory PlannerInventory Planner by SageInventoryInventory Planner, owned by Sage, forecasts demand and creates replenishment recommendations and purchase orders for multi-channel retailers. Paid from $119.99/mo, 14-day trial.Click for Scout's full analysis, owned by Sage, is a forecasting and replenishment tool for multichannel retailers. It comes in two forms.

The full product (from its pricing page): pricing is quoted based on the volume of inventory you manage, with unlimited users at no extra cost, 24/7 monitored support and dedicated account management. Inventory Planner says you can go live in about four weeks on average; other parts of the same page say five to six weeks.

Inventory Planner Essentials (from its separate Shopify App Store listing): $119.99 every 30 days with a 14-day free trial, built for single-warehouse Shopify stores. It includes purchasing recommendations, purchase order management, sales history and stock synced from Shopify, guided onboarding, and a monthly sales forecast you can filter, sort and adjust by variant. It has only two reviews on the App Store, averaging 2.8.

What you get on the full product: demand forecasting and replenishment recommendations, purchase order creation and management, multi-location and multichannel inventory visibility, cash flow planning, inventory turnover and custom reports, and low-stock alerts and supplier notifications.

Watch out: the main plan has no public price, so you cannot compare costs without a sales call. Essentials costs more than Prediko's entry tier and is limited to one warehouse.

When Shopify's built-in reports (and a spreadsheet) are enough

Shopify includes several inventory reports and a purchase orders feature, which together cover the basics of reordering. Shopify's help center does not say which plans include each report, so check your admin.

What the built-in reports show:

  • Inventory remaining per product: days of inventory remaining, calculated as stock on hand divided by average daily sales over the last 28 days.
  • Products by sell-through rate: units sold divided by units sold plus units still in stock, over the last 30 days.
  • ABC product analysis: grades variants by share of revenue over the last 28 days. A-grade products are the top sellers that make up 80% of revenue, B-grade the next 15% and C-grade the last 5%.
  • Inventory sold daily by product: average units sold per day for each variant.
  • Month-end inventory snapshot and value, plus reports on inventory adjustments.

The Products page also shows sell-through rate, days of inventory remaining and ABC inventory value at a glance.

Purchase orders: Shopify lets you create purchase orders in your admin to record what you ordered from a supplier, at what price and on what terms, then link an inventory transfer to receive the stock. Shopify's help page does not describe forecasting or reorder recommendations.

The spreadsheet step. Shopify's days-of-inventory-remaining figure is based on recent sales only, so you add the planning yourself. For each SKU, compare days remaining with your supplier's lead time plus a safety buffer. Example: 120 units on hand and 4 units a day average gives 30 days remaining. If your supplier takes 21 days and you want 10 days of buffer, you should reorder now, since 30 is less than 31.

This is enough when:

  • You have a small number of SKUs and one location.
  • Demand is fairly steady, without big seasonal swings or launches.
  • One person can review the numbers weekly in under an hour.

Move to an app when: you have many SKUs or variants, stock in several locations, bundles or raw materials, strong seasonality, or when stockouts and overstock are costing more than $49 to $119.99 a month.

Common questions

Does Shopify have built-in inventory forecasting? Shopify's reports include days of inventory remaining, sell-through rate and ABC analysis, and you can create purchase orders in the admin. Shopify's help pages do not describe demand forecasting or reorder recommendations, which is what apps like Prediko and Inventory Planner add.

How much does Prediko cost? $49 a month for stores under $100,000 in annual revenue, with a 14-day free trial. Higher revenue tiers exist but their prices are not published on its pricing page.

How much does Inventory Planner cost? The full product is quoted based on the volume of inventory you manage. The separate Inventory Planner Essentials app for single-warehouse Shopify stores is $119.99 every 30 days.

When should I stop using a spreadsheet for inventory? When you have more SKUs or locations than you can review each week, when demand swings with seasons or launches, or when stockouts and overstock cost more than an app would.

How we put this together

We did not test these tools hands-on. Every fact and price comes from official pages read in November 2026: Prediko's pricing page and Shopify App Store listing, Inventory Planner's pricing page and its Shopify App Store listings for the full product and Essentials, and Shopify's help center pages on inventory reports, product analytics and purchase orders. Ratings are as listed on the Shopify App Store in November 2026. The reorder example is our own arithmetic. Prices change, so confirm them for your revenue and inventory before you sign up.
